To apply, you need to register on this website and fill out the application for the National Round until June 30th, 2025.

The application consists of 17 mandatory questions, but don’t worry:

  • 2 are simple yes/no questions,
  • 1 is a multiple-choice selection,
  • 3 require answers under 200 characters.

That means you’re really answering just 11 full questions, and completing the form should take between 30 to 90 minutes.

Your responses will help WSA National Experts assess your solution's relevance and impact. Based on this information, they will decide whether to nominate you for the WSA Global Contest.

WSA welcomes digitial solutions that

1) Create positive impact (and can provide measurable impact numbers),

2) Are fully launched and operational,

3) Were launched in 2022 or later.

David possesses 30 years of entrepreneurial experience as a founder, CFO and board advisor to numerous tech start-ups in both America and Asia. David is currently Adjunct Professor lecturing on Entrepreneurship at American University of Phnom Penh and National University of Management. Recently served as Entrepreneur-In-Residence at Mekong Strategic Partners advising the portfolio companies of the SADIF Fund, the most active VC in Cambodia. He is an active startup community builder, serving as keynote speaker, mentor and pitch judge for numerous local incubator programs, startup events and competitions.
In 2013 David joined the WSA family when he was invited to speak and serve as a Finalist Judge at the World Summit Awards held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Following this event he successfully petitioned for the establishment of a National WSA Nomination Committee in Thailand. Since 2013 David has performed as both a WSA National Expert and Global Jurist. In 2020 David re-located to Cambodia and resumed his community-building activities, including becoming a WSA National Expert for Cambodia and helping assemble the country’s first WSA national nomination committee.
In addition to the World Summit Awards David is also an Innovation & Regional Expert for the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) composing a report titled, APAC Regional Good Practices for Accelerating Digital Transformation and a toolkit titled, Accelerating Digital Innovation & Entrepreneurship. He has also conducted stakeholder collaboration workshops for the ITU in Norway and South Korea. Other international organizations David has worked with include the World Bank, Seedstars World, SwissContact, Asia Foundation, Three-Day Startup, Startup Grind, the Global Startup Genome Project and Global Entrepreneurship Network.
David is a John Wiley published author who has written extensively on start-ups and startup ecosystems. David has three full-length books to his credit including his latest book, Building Startup Ecosystems. Recently David was a contributing writer to Ecosystem Arabia by best-selling author Amir Hegazi. In the book David is frequently cited and featured as a global thought leader in the startup ecosystem development space.

David is currently Entrepreneur-In-Residence (EIR) for Mekong Strategic Advisors, an investment and corporate advisory firm that covers the Greater Mekong Delta Region. MSP is also General Partner of the Smart Axiata Digital Innovation Fund (SADIF) and David is responsible for advising the portfolio ventures of the fund.
David possesses over 25 five years of entrepreneurial experience as a co-founder, CFO and board advisor to numerous tech start-ups in both America and Asia. For twelve years David was an active community-builder and advocate in the Thai startup scene frequently participating as a keynote speaker, moderator, panelist and pitch judge at local start-up events and serving as a mentor to numerous startups. Additionally, he has lectured on entrepreneurship at several of the leading university programs in Thailand. Recently David re-located to Cambodia where he continues his community-building and university lecturing activities.
